Special evening for English School alumni

The English School invites its graduates to a special evening on Thursday, November 29 at 7 p.m., in The School Hall, at the English School’s premises.

The aim of the event is to unite English School graduates and give them the opportunity to learn about the school’s activities and goals achieved so far and the new objectives set by the Board of Management. During the event, they will have the chance to learn about how to promote and support their school, through the English School Alumni Community and its new Alumni Portal as well as introduce them to the innovative initiative – “Digital community”. Through this community, the English School graduates can stay in touch with each other and stay informed about any future developments.

The Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry & Tourism, George Lakkotrypis, who is an English School graduate himself, will honour the event with his presence, alongside other highly regarded graduates from the world of business, arts and politics. The entertainment for the evening will be provided by the acclaimed musician and The English School’s own graduate, Alex Panayi together with a group of musically gifted graduates and current students.

The guests will have the opportunity to tour the newly constructed Newham building and the renovated athletic facilities. In the school’s 118 years of operation, The English School aims to empower its students by offering them the highest possible standards in education. The new 23-classroom building with a large Canteen area and several Common Rooms is expected to open its doors in December 2018. The school’s plans also include the transformation of the former Art Centre into a Sixth Form Centre, a space specially tailored to the needs of the 6th and 7th Form students, with facilities such as a Café, a Study area and a Careers Advice Centre.

Furthermore, the Board of Management’s aims include an upgrade of all the sports facilities, such as the Futsal, Tennis and Hockey courts. To empower creativity amongst the school’s students, the School wishes to establish a Model Centre for Research and Innovation, build excellent IT & Robotics facilities as well as enable network relationships with local and international IT companies. Additionally, a new project is underway to support this historic school to expand further its curriculum in the Humanities and Theatre.

The Education Institute’s Board of Directors has set high goals towards the growth and the development of the school. In this endeavor, the English school invites its graduates to support them in this new era of modernization.
