A section of Spyros Kyprianou avenue in Nicosia will be closed to traffic over the weekend because of the demolition of a house, the Transport Ministry announced on Friday.

It said that between 3 pm on Saturday and 8 pm on Sunday both lanes of Spyros Kyprianou between Avlonos and Gerasimou Markora streets towards Griva Digeni avenue will be closed.

During the demolition,  traffic will be re-directed through Avlonos, Gerasimou Markora and Andrea Micholakopoulou streets.

The demolition will be conducted by a private company.

A new high-rise building, named “Metropolitan” will be built at the location. It will be 66 metres tall and will be comprised of 17 storeys.

Upon completion, it will be made available for sale or rent.
