“As Cyprus’ Commissioner I intend to work to promote and enhance Cyprus in the EU and the EU in Cyprus, defending a Europe of equal opportunities, of gender equality and the protection of human rights and the rule of law,” she said.

“A Europe which is closer to every citizen, inspiring and protecting everyone equally. A Europe of stability and security. A Europe that will effectively tackle the challenges of climate change, the refugee issue, the migration issue, economic inequality, a Europe of technological development that gives vision and hope to our youth. A Europe that will decisively support Cyprus and its just struggle,” she added.
