The “Botides” is the most traditional custom in the island of Corfu on the morning of Holy Saturday, with residents throwing clay pitchers from their balconies.
According to ‘kerkyrasimera’, Deputy Mayor Spyros Halikiopoulos threw the botides without realizing that a woman was passing by on the sidewalk at that time.
The woman fell down, and people rushed to help her. Fortunately, everything was fine, and there were no serious injuries reported, but she was taken to the hospital where she received two stitches on her head.
