Vanessa Pomponi passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, with friends announcing the unfortunate news through their social media posts.
She was one of the most influential figures in the island’s showbiz scene, having been characterized as the wealthiest female Cypriot.
Vanessa had married the Italian Count Paolo Pomponi, making her a countess, a descendant of a family that claims that its lineage reaches the Caesars of Rome, specifically Numa Pompilius.
Vanessa Pomponi lived in luxury, both in the “palace” in Limassol and in Monte Carlo, in a villa worth 35 million.
It was rumored that she pulled the threads of Cypriot high society and had habits not far from the luxurious families of Beverly Hills or the Russian aristocracy.

In comments she had given to like.com.cy she stated “The world knows who I am; I’m not interested in publicity, but I also don’t like injustice”.
In another interview, she claimed, “I believe I am an old soul, having lived many lives. Perhaps I bring this knowledge with me on various matters; maybe sometimes my image deceives you, but when you sit down to talk with me, you will see that things are very different.”
Talking about the meeting she had with Uri Geller, she revealed that he told her that she was the reincarnation of Cleopatra, with Pomponi describing herself as “a new Cleopatra.”
