A member of the administrative staff of Polis Hospital has tested positive for coronavirus and arrangements are being made to test all hospital staff.
Polis Mayor Yiotis Papachristophi told philenews that the employee in question is the spouse of a health care professional at Paphos Hospital who had tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
The first sample was negative but the second was positive and the employee is self-isolating.
“There is concern in our area because the employee was going to work normally. There are few patients at the hospital. Employees will be tested and will self-isolate,” the mayor added.
He said that he will be calling a meeting of local authorities of the Polis area to discuss carrying out more tests, similar to what is being done in Paphos where 1000 residents are to be tested.
“The proposal is the local authorities who express an interest to cover 50% of the cost and to ask the Health Ministry to cover the remaining 50%,” he said.
