Police officers feel their health but also professional dignity is jeopardized when they have to transport arrested persons to coronavirus reference detention cells before PCR tests come out first.
To make it even worse, Force members are also obligated to know where rapid test sites are in operation before they take any suspect before any district court, one told Philenews.
“Not only do we act as taxi drivers but our health is at risk as well. The dignified role of a police officer is really jeopardised,” added the officer.
Many a times, a patrol car leaves one district at midnight to transport a detainee even as far as to Polis Chrysochous where there are reference cells.
And in the morning, the same officers will go again to pick the detainees up and take him to court.
A rapid test is mandatory since none without a negative result can enter a court.
