Police have made one arrest as part of their investigations into an attempted murder in the early hours of Monday morning.

Citing sources, philenews said the man is a 38 year old Greek Cypriot, resident of Larnaca.

He was arrested and taken to Famagusta CID for questioning.

Police have been scrutinizing CCTV footage of the actual crime and of a man seen passing by the Ayia Napa bar a little before.

The assailant, who was wearing a hood and gloves, walked up to the bar, fired about 25 shots from the pavement and ran off.

The weapon, a Kalashnikov, was found the car park of a nearby museum.

Police believe the intended victim was Costas Kritikos who was at the café that night, but left about 20 minutes before the attack.

Three men and one woman, who are understood not to have any connection to Kritikos and happened to be in the bar at the time, were injured. They have been hospitalised but their condition is described as out of danger.
