Police in Cyprus handed a total of 148 fines over the past 24 hours for violation of measures aiming to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Most of the total of 11,493 fines were issued in coastal Limassol which records the highest number of new covid-19 cases over the past couple of weeks, according to CNA.
Specifically, the ratio of fines issued in Limassol was 2.1% compared to Cyprus’ overall of 1.3%.
In Nicosia, the percentage was 0.99%, in Larnaca 1.7%, in Paphos 0.93%, in Famagusta 0.81% and in Morphou 0.18%.
In Nicosia, police carried out 2,010 controls reporting 20 individuals and in Limassol 3,797 checks led to 81 individuals and two establishments getting fines.
In Larnaca, 1,172 checks led to 20 individuals getting fines and in Paphos 11 individuals and 2 establishments were booked following 1,386 inspections.
Police also carried out 1,220 checks in Famagusta region and reported 10 individuals while in Morphou after 1,053 checks two individuals were fined.
Moreover, Marine and Port police carried out 149 checks with no fines issued.
