Police have arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with a human trafficking case involving criminal actions that took place between January 2017 and May 22 this year in Egypt and in Cyprus.
The suspect is facing charges of human trafficking, exploitation of people at work, conspiracy to commit a crime, accepting money from illegal activities and illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus.
Specifically, the anti-trafficking unit of the police force, along with labour ministry officers, raided a farm in Famagusta area on May 22.
They found at least two persons who are believed to have been victims of human trafficking. Investigations have led to further alleged criminal activities taking place there.
