Paphos sports tourism on the rise

There is increased demand from international players for Paphos’ sports infrastructure in 2020, an insider told Phileleftheros, with interest coming from teams as well as individual athletes.

Data shows that bookings were made in Paphos, Yeroskipou and Peyia from athletes of track & field, cycling, triathlon, swimming and football.

This development pleases local authorities that have deployed a strategic plan to showcase Paphos as an international sports tourism destination.

In a coordinated effort by local authorities supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, Paphos aims to stand out from the competition by displaying its strengths including the sunny weather, its mild winters, good accessibility via Paphos airport, satisfactory infrastructure and local hospitality.

Athletes who used Paphos’ facilities in the past have reportedly left positive comments on their experience saying that the city has all the required elements to become a preferred destination for training in the future.
