Paphos: Police fire warning shots, two youths injured

Authorities are investigating after a complaint was filed by two youths that police had shot and injured them during an incident near Argakas last night.

Police said that at around 1 am, Paphos police officers carrying out checks in Argakas saw a quad bike moving suspiciously.

The driver failed to comply with a signal to stop and accelerated, heading towards police who fired warning shots to stop it. On the bike were two young men who got away.

A little later police were informed that a 22 year old and a 19 year old has gone to Polis Chrysochous Hospital with injuries to the legs and were admitted for treatment. Their condition is out of danger.

The two have meanwhile filed a complaint against police that they had been injured by police fire.

The police chief has ordered an investigation.
