The Paphos Regional Board of Tourism has joined the two-year SUSTAIN IT programme comprising eight partners from six EU countries — Belgium, Cyprus, Italy, Iceland, Ireland and Spain — co-funded by Erasmus+ that aims to provide the tourism sector with the tools necessary to enhance professionals’ skills and competencies to boost employability.
The consortium conducted its second meeting in February in Malaga, Spain where partners conducted an overview of the tools and training of the programme.
Participants addressed the need for dissemination and multiplier events, necessary for the visibility and mainstreaming of the project, and also discussed administrative issues.
The programme consists of eight courses specifically designed for local operators in the tourism sector that will equip them with the skills and competences to plan, implement and market viable solutions/services of sustainable tourism.
SUSTAIN IT is targeted at individual professionals, microenterprises or SMEs in any sector of the tourism value-chain (transport, guide, accommodation, food & drink, etc.)
The focus of SUSTAIN IT is to build up the competitiveness of local tourist operators (current and prospective) with enhanced capacity to plan, execute, manage and monitor sustainable tourism initiatives.
