Paphos jewellery theft suspects arrested

Police on Thursday arrested a man and a woman suspected of stealing 50 rings worth some €20,000 from a jewellery shop in Paphos. Both are Romanian.

They were were arrested in Polis Chrysochous, close to another jewellery shop which police believe they were targeting.

The couple’s photos were released by police yesterday. They were recognised by a shopkeeper who spotted them outside a jewellery store and called the police.

They are currently being questioned at Paphos police station. Police are understood to have received a spate of complaints from other businessmen who recognised the two as having appeared at their premises where thefts had occurred.
