A couple from Bulgaria was caught carrying crystal meth while visiting a friend held at Paphos police headquarters on Thursday night, philenews reports.
The incident unravelled around 11 pm on Thursday night when a 31-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man showed up at Paphos police requesting to visit a friend held in custody there.
During the standard security checks at the entrance of the station, police found two straws filled with 2 g of crystal meth in the same bag that contained other basic need items they had brought for their friend.
As a result, the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (Ykan) was called to the scene, who spotted yet another straw filled with the same drug substance in the woman’s purse.
Arrest warrants were subsequently issued against the pair, who were then remanded in custody.
The Drug Law Enforcement Unit is investigating further.
