The 27 year old owner of a Belgian shepherd that broke loose from his chain and bit a nine year old boy in Paphos on Wednesday was arrested, charged and released.
Police care investigating a case of negligence and reckless action and failure to keep a dog under control.
Police were initially looking for the owner of the house where the dog was tied up but it later emerged that the dog belonged to his son who was arrested on Wednesday night.
The nine year old boy remains in hospital for reasons of precaution. Doctors described his condition as good.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening as the child was riding his bicycle on the street. The dog broke loose from his chain and attacked the boy before residents rushed to his assistance.
