The organised parents of Secondary Education have asked for the suspension of the start of the school year because of the extremely high temperatures of recent days and the difficulty in wearing a mask all day long.
In a letter sent to the Minister of Education, the Cyprus Con-federation of Parents of Secondary Level Students noted that the high temperatures over the last few days make working conditions in schools extremely adverse and are of particular concern to parents.
They also noted the weather will create problems and students will not get used to wearing the mask.
Parents also warned that children with respiratory problems may have health problems, as well as their other classmates who will be forced to wear masks in non-air-conditioned rooms.
They then called on the Minister to evaluate all the data and if the return of students is not found to be a safe choice to proceed with the suspension of the start of the new school year.
