A 25-year old man was remanded in custody for four days by Nicosia District Court, in connection with violence at sports grounds and attacking and causing damage to property.
Police say he was arrested yesterday in connection with incidents that occurred on Wednesday, outside Makario stadium in Nicosia, before a football match between Omonia 1948 and Trouli FC.
The bus, carrying the Trouli team, came under attack by about 40 persons, who bore Omonia 1948 insignia. They are said to have caused damage to the bus and thrown fire-crackers inside the vehicle.
Six Trouli footballers, inside the bus, were taken to Nicosia General Hospital for medical care and another went to Larnaca hospital for treatment.
Nicosia CID continue their investigations into the case.
