One in four school students in Cyprus are victims of bullying

One in four school students in Cyprus have been victims of bullying while one in 10 said he/she was the one exercising this aggressive behavior.

This is what Dr Kostas Fantis, Associate Professor of Psychology from the Department of Psychology of the University of Cyprus, told participants at a conference that took place recently at the Ministry of Education.

A small percentage of bullies victimize a large percentage of students, while girls appear to have a higher risk of getting abused – specifically, 26.6% over 19.4% of boys, Philenews also reported on Tuesday.

This is a fact also recorded in the sector of cyberbullying, according to the thorough research carried out by Dr Fantis.

The aim of the research was to examine the co-relation of the phenomenon of bullying in school with various parameters related to the school and family environment.

As well as the wider social context and individual factors that concern students, parents and teachers themselves.
