Not a high number of citizens aged 86 and above have been vaccinated with the booster shot of Covid-19 since walk-in centres began operation all across Cyprus last Wednesday.
This is what Philenews reported on Monday, adding that during the first two days a total of 1,357 of elderly under this age group walked in for the third dose.
But the process is ongoing and it is expected that by mid-week the age group to be eligible for a booster jab will drop to 80, it added.
The mRNA vaccines (Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna) are the only ones administered for the third dose, regardless of the one at the initial vaccination.
Relevant walk-in vaccination centres at designated areas operate Monday to Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Setting up an appointment for the booster jab through the state’s Vaccination Portal is expected to be made available early in October.
