Nicosia Marathon takes place tomorrow

«Nicosia Marathon» takes place tomorrow and police have announced that many roads in the capital will remain closed from 6 a.m. until 2.30 p.m..

During this time, all necessary arrangements will be made for the safe and orderly flow of traffic via nearby roads.

Drivers in the affected areas are asked to follow police instructions, to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The Civil Aviation Department has issued a circular forbidding the use of drones during the marathon.

A group under the title “MFA and FRIENDS», comprising 70 members, will participate in the Nicosia Marathon, which this year is under the auspices of Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides.

Members include Ministry employees and staff from diplomatic missions in Nicosia, with their families. Staff of the local European parliament office in Nicosia and the EU Commission office in Cyprus will also participate. People will take part in runs of 5, 10 kilometres and the half marathon.

This year’s marathon is supporting the charity association of rare genetic disorders “Unique smiles”.

On Wednesday Minister Christodoulides hosted a reception, prior to which the work of the charity organization was presented to the guests.
