Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s address to the Cyprus parliament on Thursday raised eyebrows after he failed to even mention Turkey’s invasion in Cyprus in 1974.
And things got even worse after the video link’s screen went black during the intervention of House President Annita Demetriou who raised the similarity between the two invasions.
As if that was not enough, President Nicos Anastasiades who was in attendance could not hide his annoyance after Zelenskiy bluntly called on the government to end an already abolished passport scheme.
The controversial citizenship through investment scheme used to give mainly wealthy Russians dual citizenship on the EU-member island. Zelenskiy also called on Cyprus to close its ports to all Russian ships.
Main opposition left-wing Akel refused to attend while anti-Russian protests were also being held outside parliament while Zelenskiy was speaking.
Zelenskiy also showed a shocking video of atrocities he said were committed by invading Russian forces.
