Yellow alert for Tuesday with temps at 40 C inland, 32 C in mountains

The met office early on Tuesday issued yet another extreme hot weather warning, but said that the heat wave will begin to gradually ease as from Wednesday.

According to Tuesday’s yellow alert — in force from 10 am to 4 pm – temperatures will rise to around 40 C inland and around 32 C in the mountains.

This is the third yellow alert in as many days. The initial forecast for Tuesday  that was issued on Monday afternoon forecast temperatures of 39 C inland.

The met office said Tuesday will be mainly fine with maximum temperatures of around 40 C inland, 35 C on the south and east coasts, 33 C on the north coasts and 32 C on the west coasts and in the mountains.

The fine weather will continue on Wednesday. Thursday will also be mainly fine but with increased clouds at intervals at noon and in the afternoon in the mountains, inland and in the south east.

Friday will also be mainly fine but clouds at noon and in the afternoon may lead to isolated showers and storms, mainly in the mountains, inland and in the south east.

Temperatures will edge down gradually over the three day period to reach close to average for the time of year by Friday, it added.
