Women arrested on charge of running human trafficking businesses

Police arrested two 47 year-old women of Asian origin on suspicion of running a human trafficking businesses from their home, Phileleftheros reported.

The suspects allegedly convinced other women to come to Cyprus from Vietnam in order to work at hotels with good wages but instead forced them into prostitution.

Police raided the suspects’ home and found two women, a 36 year-old and a 39 year-old, both from Vietnam, who were identified as victims.

According to what was said in court yesterday, the suspects found customers near OXI roundabout in Nicosia, got in their cars and led them to their homes where they ran their trafficking businesses to meet the victims.

Customers testified that they paid between 20-50 euro.

The suspects were remanded in custody for eight days.
