A 67 year old woman in Paphos was remanded in custody for five days by the district court in Paphos in connection with taking a large amount of money under false pretences from an 81 year old man who subsequently died at the city’s General Hospital.

Police arrested the woman following a complaint by a relative of the deceased. She was an employee in the 81 year olds’ company.

According to Paphos Assistant Superintendent Nikos Tsapis, the woman made 25 ATM withdrawals of 17 thousand euro using the deceased man’s credit cards.

Her boss was being treated at the Paphos General for the past month and passed away yesterday.

In her testimony, the woman claimed she had the 81 year olds’ approval.
