It could be a challenging Christmas this year for many who will feel the pain of the financial consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. But at least it will be a white one, according to the Mediterranean island’s Meteorology Service.
“The forecast up until December 23, that is two days before Christmas, is totally wintery with rain and thunder as well as a substantial drop in the temperature along with snowfall in the mountains,” officer Matheos Papadakis told Philenews.
“And with extreme weather phenomena also on the forecast, it is expected that snow could fall even in the Plains,” he added.
December is, on average, the wettest month of the year, with a mean precipitation total of 94mm, spread over 12 wet days. Average temperatures range from 5 °C to 15°C.
