What exactly is a brain aneurism and how it can be treated

Four days after Labour Minister Zeta Emilianidou’s brain aneurysm news people seem to be thirsty to find out what exactly is its cause.

Dr Kyriacos Paraskeva who specializes in brain and spine surgeries has explained that aneurism is a bulge in a blood vessel.

And that this is caused by a weakness in the blood vessel wall – usually where it branches.

As blood passes through the weakened blood vessel, the blood pressure causes a small area to bulge outwards like a balloon.

Embolization is a minimally invasive procedure to treat an aneurysm by filling it with material that closes off the sac and reduces the risk of bleeding.

Embolization is a microsurgical clipping surgical procedure used to stop blood flow into an aneurysm.
