Warrant against man who tried to vote twice by impersonating his twin brother

Relevant News

Paphos District Court issued an arrest warrant against a 20 year old man for not appearing in court on Wednesday to stand trial for attempting to impersonate his twin brother so that he could vote twice in February’s presidential elections.

According to information, the young man had voted at a Geroskipou election centre and then asked whether he could also vote on behalf of his twin brother.

When he was told he could not, he left, changed his clothes and returned a little later, carrying a different ID, pretending to be his twin brother. However, a police officer recognised and arrested him.

The 20 year old has plead not guilty to changes of circulating a false document and impersonation.

He is due to appear in court again March 13.
