Volunteers are seen assisting firefighters in the effort to put out forest fires, or in floods, or when looking for missing persons. Some of them have even become guards of the forests, patrolling high-risk areas to act immediately in case of a fire.
This is the volunteers of SupportCY, established by the Bank of Cyprus in March 2020, initially to contribute to the management of the consequences of the pandemic and to support state Services. Now the network, in which 150 companies participate, has been reinforced through the establishment of a Center to Face Humanitarian Crises and Natural Disasters, manned by an excellently trained group of volunteers.
The Group has vehicles and equipment and has already assisted in several fires all over Cyprus.
