Volunteers deliver medicine, personal items

Around 550 volunteers registered with the office of the Commissioner for Volunteerism have delivered personal items to some 2200 people in compulsory quarantine at various hotels, as well as medicine and other help to hundreds others.

Overall, 1400 people have registered as volunteers while the National Guard and members of the Presidential Guard are ready to help whenever necessary, it said.

So far, about 550 volunteers have been activated for the following:

  1. Delivery of personal items and cleaning materials to 2200 people in quarantine at hotels round the island
  2. 60 deliveries of pharmaceuticals in cooperation with the Health Ministry by a specialised team of volunteers who have been trained and equipped
  3. The coordination centre of mobile units of the Labour Ministry is staffed by public officials but also by volunteers, Bank of Cyprus and Reaction have given significant support.
  4. More than 700 home deliveries have been carried out by the mobile units of medicine, basic items to elderly and people with health issues and no support. This is being implemented in cooperation with the Commissioner for Mountain Communities, the Union of Municipalities, the Union of Communities and NGOs.
