A video clip showing a headmaster at a Nicosia high school exercising violence on a student in front of his peers has stirred a storm of protests.
The incident took place on the first day of the new school year earlier this week and his parents reported the headmaster to police after the young one required first aid. His body had bruises and scratches and the whole incident has sparked a furor.
Head of the Ministry’s Secondary Level Education Kyprianos Louis expressed disapproval over such behavior by a headmaster and said the incident would be investigated.
He also said that efforts will be made so that the situation at the specific lyceum goes back to normal.
Insiders said the incident was sparked after the customary fireworks display by students to mark the start of the new academic year.
Apparently, the headmaster was upset over it and blamed the specific student for the locomotion.
