Relevant News

Thirty three irregular migrants from Syria have arrived in the government controlled areas from the Turkish-occupied north, 13 of them in Oroklini and the remaining 20 in Akaki.

The Cyprus News Agency said 13 Syrian refugees, all men, went on foot to Oroklini police station at around midnight.

They told police that they had walked from Syria to Turkey where they remained for four days and then travelled by boat to the Turkish occupied north after paying $5500 each.

From there they walked for about four hours, crossed into the government controlled areas and went to Oroklini police station.

They were taken to Larnaca police station, questioned and from there taken to the Kokkinotrimithia temporary reception centre.

Earlier on Wednesday, 20 Syrians were picked up in Akaki.
