Update: Rottweiler owner pleads not guilty to manslaughter charges

Relevant News

The 27 year old owner of Rottweiler dogs believed to have mauled a 46 year old Bulgarian woman to death in Geroskipou pleaded not guilty at Paphos Criminal Court on Friday to charges of manslaughter and causing death by reckless action.

He pleaded not guilty to allowing a dog under his care to roam free, but pleaded guilty to charges of possessing dogs without a licence.

The trial was set to start on November 23.

His arrest followed the death on February 22 of Petrouna Milkova Nikolova who was found in a field near to the defendant’s premises with fatal injuries, initially attributed to an agricultural accident. But later post-mortems– a total of five were held on the victim– determined that she had died from dog bites. Police believed that she was attacked by two Rottweilers

The 27 year remains free on 100,000 euro bail. He has surrendered his travel documents, his name has been placed on the stop list and he must report to the police station daily. He was also ordered to ensure that his dogs are on a leash and are muzzled.
