A 28 year old man is the latest road fatality in Cyprus which occurred near Argakas, Paphos early on Friday morning.

Police said the accident occurred around 2.00 am on the Ayia Marina -Argakas road.

Under conditions that are being investigated the driver of the car, Philippos Hadjiphilippou, lost control of his vehicle which hit a barrier, overturned several times and then hit a tree.

He was rushed by ambulance to Polis Chrysochous Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Deputy Paphos police chief Nicos Tsiapis said the accident was due to speeding and again appealed to drivers to adhere to the traffic code and cooperate with police, particularly during the busy August 15 holiday.

He said the post-mortem showed the driver had died of multiple injuries as a result of a traffic accident.

It appeared the victim was not wearing his seat belt and was thrown out of the car, Tsiappis added.
