A 55 year old woman who had barricaded herself in her house in Paphos with her two young children has ended her stand off after hours of negotiations with police and social welfare officers.
The children are now in the care of the social services and the woman is complying with a court order for a mandatory medical examination.
The court has assigned custody of the two children, a boy and girl aged eight, to the social services.
Earlier Paphos police and officials from the social services went to the home of a woman who has barricaded herself inside with her two young children.
Citing police, the Cyprus News Agency said the the two children should have been returned to a social worker, but the mother has instead locked herself in the house with the children. A court order has also been issued for the mother to be examined by a doctor.
