Unsettled with rain showers and snow in the mountains

It will be a windy,  unsettled day with showers, possible thunderstorms and snowfall in the higher Troodos peaks as low pressure affects the area, particularly from late in the afternoon.

Thursday will be partly cloudy in the morning with local showers while in the afternoon there will be local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Snowfall is expected in the higher Troodos peaks at intervals.

Temperatures will be 19 C inland and on the south and east coasts, around 18 C on the remaining coasts and around 10 C in the mountains.

Tonight will be mainly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms while there will be snowfall at intervals in the higher Troodos peaks. Winds will be strong, becoming very strong after midnight.

Temperatures will fall to 8 C inland, around 12 C on the south and east coasts, around 14 C on the west and north coasts and 0 C in the mountains where there will be frost.

Friday will be partly cloudy in the morning with local showers and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the north, east and inland. Locally in the higher mountain peaks there will be snowfall at intervals. Later however, the weather will become mainly fine.

The weekend will be mainly fine with increased local cloud at intervals which may lead to isolated light showers, mainly in the coastal areas.

Temperatures will drop to a little below the seasonal average in Friday and move back to a little above average for the time of year on Saturday, remaining at the same levels on Sunday.

At the time of issue of the early morning weather bulletin, the depth of snow on Troodos Square was 75 cm.
