UN Secretary-General special adviser, Jane Holl Lute will return to Cyprus on Saturday and will meet with President Nicos Anastasiades on Sunday as part of the efforts to restart UN-brokered talks for the solution of the Cyprus problem.
In a post on Twitter, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou said that President Anastasiades had a telephone conversation with Lute.
“Mrs Lute will visit Cyprus next Saturday and meet @AnastasiadesCY on Sunday 10.00 am,” Prodromou added in his post.
Lute’s new visit is part of the efforts to formulate the terms of reference that would govern a possible new round of UN-brokered talks for the solution of the Cyprus problem, following the collapse of the talks at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana in the summer of 2017.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory.
