Two women, a Greek Cypriot and a Greek, were arrested at Ayios Dhometios checkpoint yesterday after they were caught attempting to bring 3.55 kilos of tobacco from the Turkish-occupied north.
The tobacco was confiscated as was the car. The total duty and tax for the tobacco was €740.
The two women were released after reaching an out of court settlement, agreeing to pay €1,350 and another €500 for the return of the car.
The tobacco was confiscated and will be destroyed.
