Two top-ranking officials to be also questioned by criminal investigator in prisons’ director scandal

Relevant News

A senior police officer who allegedly colluded with a life-sentenced inmate to damage the reputation of the island’s highly esteemed central prisons director will know on Wednesday whether he will get suspended.

At the same time, two top-ranking officials will be questioned by the independent criminal investigator appointed on Monday to look into the new scandal concerning the police force following Anna Artistotelous’ revelations.

This is what Philenews reports citing insiders who also said the inmate – an infamous drug dealer – is heard asking the anti-narcotics squad member whether the two officials were aware of what he was promising him in return to the ‘favour’.

What the high-profile police officer wanted was a video with embarrassing private moments of Aristotelous with another central prisons’ officer so as to damage her reputation and put the brakes on career prospects.

On Monday, the officer was asked – and granted – two days to respond before the Justice Minister makes her final decision on his possible suspension.

Lawyer Achilleas Emilianides is the independent criminal investigator appointed by the Attorney General to look into the complaint officially filed on Monday morning by Aristotelous.

The investigation must be completed within a month.
