Two swimmers in trouble in stormy seas near the Saint George Hotel in Paphos were rescued just before noon on Friday.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre said that it had activated its Nearchos Plan, sending the coastguard to pick up the two swimmers.
The Cyprus News Agency said that the two swimmers were a 23 year old Romanian woman and a 33 year old Briton who rushed into the sea with a life jacket to help her.
They were brought to shore where an ambulance crew was waiting. The two signed documents that they did not wish to go to hospital.
Both are in good health.
