Two plans to improve security of people in mountainous areas almost completed

Relevant News

Two significant plans within the government’s efforts to improve the quality of life and security of people living in rural areas and especially those in mountainous communities are nearing completion, Philenews reported on Monday.

One is the new Police Station of Limassol’s kalo Horio whose renovation and expansion is expected to be completed before the month’s end.

The other is the new Fire Brigade station in Kyvides which is expected to come in operation within the first quarter of the year.

Both plans are part of the National Strategy on Development of Mountainous Communities.

The Strategy’s aim is to plan and promote projects which will encourage development in the Troodos region and all mountainous areas.

A year ago, mountain development commissioner, Costas Hambiaouris, presented all short-term plans – expected to be implemented by 2023.

The maximum use of resources from the European Funds and the Recovery and Resilience Facility will be allocated towards proposed projects.
