Two new ministers, AG and deputy AG to be sworn in

Two new ministers will be sworn in today, with their predecessors moving to head the law office of the Republic as part of a mini reshuffle announced by President Nicos Anastasiades last week.

At 10 am today, Emily Yiolitou will be sworn in as new Justice Minister, taking the post of Yiorgos Savvides who has been named new attorney general. Also being sworn in at 10 is new Defence Minister Charalambos Petrides who will replace the new deputy AG Savvas Angelides.

Savvides and Angelides will be sworn in at a separate ceremony to be held at the Presidential Palace at 11.30 am.

The handing over ceremony at the Justice Ministry will be at 12.30 and at the Defence Ministry at 1 pm.

Savvides and Angelides will take up their duties at a ceremony at 2 pm.

The new Energy, Commerce and Industry Minister Natasa Pilides is to be sworn in early next month, taking the portfolio of Yiorgos Lakkotrypis who is stepping down after seven years at the helm.

Her replacement as deputy shipping minister Vasilis Demetriades will be sworn in on the same day.
