Cyprus on Tuesday expects delivery of two Spanish Air Tractor firefighting aircraft, Forest Department head Charalambos Alexandrou told Philenews.
And this development enables the island’s firefighting air force to reach its goal of raising the number of overall aerial means to 13.
At the same time, two Russian Kamov firefighting helicopters are expected to arrive in Cyprus within a week.
An open tender was announced for the lease of the two helicopters, several companies submitted bids and two reached the final stage.
Alexandrou also said a Spanish company representing the two Kamovs was finally selected after evaluation.
In mid-May, two more Air Tractor firefighting aircraft from Spain were delivered to Cyprus.
