Two men in custody for Ayia Napa attempted murder, remanded as suspects in Larnaca case

Relevant News

A man in custody as a suspect for an attempted murder in Ayia Napa two weeks ago has been arrested in connection with another attempted murder, this time in Larnaca.

The 37 year old appeared before Larnaca district court on Monday  and was remanded in custody for eight days in connection with the attempt on the life of Charalambos Charalambous, aka Mavros, in Larnaca last November.

A convict currently serving a life sentence is also under arrest on suspicion of being the instigator of the Ayia Napa attempt. He too was arrested and remanded in custody for eight days for the attempt on the life of Charalambous.

The two suspects appeared in court separately.

The intended victim of the Ayia Napa attack was a businessman who left a bar about 20 minutes before a lone gunman opened fire, injuring four people who were inside.

Last November, Charalambous sustained serious injuries from gunfire after he was ambushed in the area of Larnaca port.
