Two arrested, three injured after altercation in Paphos field

Two men are under arrest and another three have been hospitalised after an angry altercation in a Paphos field turned nasty.

The incident occurred at around 4.30 pm on Sunday afternoon when about 20 people in ten off  road vehicles parked in a farming area in the Paphos district.

The 54 year old owner of a livestock farm in the area and his 23 year old employee approached the group in their car and told them their vehicles were causing damage. He also allegedly hit one of them with a stick on the hand.

The two men also allegedly threw stones on the group and their cars and allegedly drove into one of them, denting it.

The group got into their cars to leave when allegedly the 23 year old threw a stone at one of the cars, hitting the driver on the head.

In his attempt to get away, that driver collided with a parked tractor and his car overturned. He and his co-driver were taken Paphos Hospital where they were hospitalised.

The 74 year old father of the the 54 year old was also taken to hospital for precautionary reasons. He has bruises to the chest which he says he sustained after being hit by the others.

The 54 year old and 23 year old have been arrested as police continue their inquiries.
