Twenty citizens, five establishments fined over Covid measures breach

Police in Cyprus fined 20 citizens and five establishments over the past 24 hours for violation of measures aiming to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The Force had carried out a total of 2,714 checks all across Cyprus, according to CNA.

In Nicosia, police carried out 1,234 checks and fined 6 citizens and 3 establishments, while  in Limassol out of 196 inspections 4 citizens were fined.

In Larnaca, 482 checks led to one citizen getting a fine and in Paphos 2 establishments were fined after 265 checks.

In Famagusta, 9 citizens were fined after 384 checks and, in Morphou, no fines were issued after a total of 27 checks.

Traffic Patrol Department and Port and Marine Police carried out 111 and 15 inspections,  respectively, and reported no violations.

According to Police, a fine in Nicosia οf 500 euro was handed over to the head of an establishment for not having a safe pass.

A cafe was also fined because it failed to check the customers for a safe pass. Another fine of 500 was handed to a head of an establishment because an employee did not carry a safe pass.

In Paphos fines of 500 euro each were handed to heads of establishments for failing to comply with health protocols.
