Tourist arrested on suspicion of paying Ayia Napa hotel with stolen credit cards

A Russian woman who ran up a hotel bill of some 5,000 is under arrest as police investigate whether payment was made with stolen credit cards, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

It said that an Ayia Napa hotelier had reported to police that the 30 year old visitor had paid 2,900 online on making her reservation. The card used appears to be stolen. In addition, she then had additional expenses of 1,970 which she paid with a second credit card, that also appears to be stolen.

She was arrested for obtaining goods under false pretences and theft and is expected to appear before Famagusta District court later today to be remanded in custody.
