Three persons rescued by police on Saturday

Police rescued on Saturday three persons, two women and a man, in Pegia, Pedoulas and Akamas, a police press release issued today says.

A 60-year old tourist, who injured her leg, in Akamas area, was rescued by a police helicopter which took her to Pafos General hospital. She sustained a broken knee, at three places, and remained in hospital for treatment.

Earlier on in the day, police, assisted by civil defence and members of other services, in addition to volunteers, rescued an 80-year old Russian woman, living in Pegia, who had been missing since Thursday evening. She was taken to hospital for medical care.

At around noon on Saturday, a police helicopter rescued a 44-year old man from his car, which had fallen in a 50 metre deep cliff. The man was taken to Nicosia General hospital for medical treatment. Doctors say he is out of danger.
