Since 2015 the Forestry Department remains understaffed and has been asking for solutions without any essential result. At the time when the threat of forest fires is getting bigger and bigger the problem of minimum staff means serious dangers about the safe protection of our forests.
So yesterday, the employees decided to proceed with a three-hour work stoppage today and a protest first outside the Finance Ministry and then a march toward the Presidential Palace.
This mobilized the Presidential Palace. The Agriculture Minister called a delegation of the employees last night and announced that certain decisions have been made in coordination with the Finance Ministry, including the fact that all vacant positions will unfreeze and be filled in 2021. Consequently the employees decided to postpone their work stoppage until 1 December.
