Thousands booked for breaking Covid-19 decrees since measures introduced

Police carried out a total of 57,027 checks of premises from March 11 to April 5 to ensure compliance with various decrees to contain the spread of coronavirus.

A total of 196 were booked.

And, from March 24 — when the government introduced tougher restrictions on movement of members of the public — to April 5 police checked 155,757 pedestrians and cars. A total of 4,086 were booked.

The breakdown for March 2-April 5, by district regarding violations of the stay at home decree:

Nicosia: 1112

Limassol: 754

Larnaca: 717

Paphos: 493

Famagusta: 744
